PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) is the latest and last version of Microsoft’s on-premises email server platform, designed to support organizations that require enterprise-grade email services in an on-premises environment.

Unlike previous versions of Exchange Server, the Subscription Edition follows the Modern Lifecycle Policy. This means that from now on, support will have no fixed end date as long as customers keep their systems (and software licenses!) up to date. Instead, the Exchange SE codebase will be serviced continuously as an evergreen product, with no further major, year-numbered versions.

Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition is available in both Standard and Enterprise editions, each offering the full range of functionality. Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise supports up to 100 mounted mailbox databases per server, making it ideal for large organisations with many mailbox databases or those wishing to use Database Availability Groups (DAGs) for high availability. Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard is designed for small to medium-sized organisations and is limited to a maximum of five mounted mailbox databases per server. The Standard edition can also be used for non-mailbox roles, such as the Edge Transport Role, within a server environment that otherwise consists of Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise servers.

A licence for Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise is required for each server (physical or virtual) on which the software is used.

Additionally, Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard CALs are always required for all users and devices accessing the core functionality of Exchange Server Subscription Edition. To use the advanced compliance and archiving features, an Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise CAL is also required for each user or device, in addition to the Standard CAL.

You can upgrade your existing Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise CU14 or CU15 servers to Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise by performing an in-place upgrade. Exchange Server Subscription Edition is unlike previous Exchange Server releases, as it does not contain a major code upgrade and contains no major changes when compared to Exchange 2019 Server CU15. However, this will not remain the case. After support for Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 ends in October 2025, Exchange Server Subscription Edition will be the only supported on-premises version of Exchange Server.

For Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise, it is essential to maintain licences with active Software Assurance. If Software Assurance expires, it can be renewed for another three years. If Software Assurance is not renewed, the right to use Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Enterprise lapses, and you may only continue using the last perpetual version—Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise.

SWITCHING CLOUD PROVIDER

Switching to us as your new Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) is a seamless process. The transfer of subscriptions may vary depending on the agreement you have with your current provider. That's why we ensure that the transition to us is smooth, without any downtime! All you need to do is terminate your current agreement.

Subscription Transfer 
Our approach to subscription transfer is simple and seamless. On the day before your current agreement expires, we will activate the desired subscriptions in our Marketplace. This way, you won't experience any issues during the transition, and there will be no interruption in your cloud services. All you have to do is cancel your current contract to prevent automatic renewal.

No Downtime 
When you switch from your current CSP provider to us, you don't have to worry about downtime. NCE
New Commerce Experience (NCE) is the new contract model introduced by Microsoft. Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise is met name bedoeld voor organisaties die gebruik willen maken van Database Availability Groups (DAGs) voor High Availability. Exchange Servers in een Database Availability Group kunnen naast hun eigen mailboxdatabases, ook kopieën van de mailboxdatabases van de andere mailboxservers in de groep hosten en zo zorgen voor automatisch herstel van de mailboxdatabase wanneer er bijvoorbeeld een server, disk of netwerk fout optreedt.

Exchange Server 2019 Standard is beperkt tot 5 mounted mailboxdatabases en is daarom bij meerdere mailboxdatabases als snel niet geschikt hiervoor. Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise ondersteunt tot 100 mounted mailboxdatabases per server. Dit is het enige verschil tussen de Standard en Enterprise Editie.
