Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard CALs are required for each user or device that makes use of the core functionality of Exchange Server Subscription Edition, such as email, (shared) mailboxes, calendar, contacts, tasks, and Outlook on the web.

Standard CALs are not required solely for server administration or for external users who only access the core functionality.

Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard CALs are available in two variants: User CAL (per user) or Device CAL (per device). User CALs are more cost-effective and convenient when users work with multiple devices. Device CALs are more cost-effective and convenient when multiple users (e.g. part-time staff) share the same device.

If you already have Microsoft Core CAL Suite or Enterprise CAL Suite licences with Software Assurance for your users or devices, the Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard CAL is already included and does not need to be purchased separately.

If you already have active Microsoft Exchange Online Plan 1/Plan 2, Office 365 E1/E3/E5, or Microsoft 365 E3/E5 subscriptions for your users, they already have the same usage rights as an Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard User CAL for the duration of the subscription.

Please note: this does not apply to other subscriptions that include Exchange Online. In those cases, you must still purchase separate Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition Standard CALs if you wish to use Exchange Server Subscription Edition.

SWITCHING CLOUD PROVIDER

Switching to us as your new Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) is a seamless process. The transfer of subscriptions may vary depending on the agreement you have with your current provider. That's why we ensure that the transition to us is smooth, without any downtime! All you need to do is terminate your current agreement.

Subscription Transfer 
Our approach to subscription transfer is simple and seamless. On the day before your current agreement expires, we will activate the desired subscriptions in our Marketplace. This way, you won't experience any issues during the transition, and there will be no interruption in your cloud services. All you have to do is cancel your current contract to prevent automatic renewal.

No Downtime 
When you switch from your current CSP provider to us, you don't have to worry about downtime. As long as we activate the same subscriptions and quantities in our Marketplace on the day before your agreement expires, the transition will be smooth and without any interruptions. Microsoft automatically adopts our offer of new subscriptions, eliminating the need for you to reassign the subscriptions!

NCE
New Commerce Experience (NCE) is the new contract model introduced by Microsoft. Additionally, there are still "old" Legacy subscriptions in circulation, which can be identified by the absence of the (NCE) abbreviation in the product. With these old Legacy subscriptions, you can switch at any time, unless otherwise agreed with your current provider.
