The Microsoft Windows Server 2022 AD RMS CAL's allow you to permanently secure your confidential information and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. These CAL's are required for the use of Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) and provide advanced functionality to protect your information.

With these CAL's you can apply Information Rights Management (IRM) policies to confidential information within your organization. The permissions you set are embedded in the documents themselves and remain effective at all times, even outside the organization. This ensures that unauthorized individuals cannot access the information, forward it, copy it, print it, or even take a screenshot.

A major advantage of the Microsoft Windows Server 2022 AD RMS CAL's is their seamless integration with other Microsoft products such as Office, Exchange Server, and SharePoint Server. This allows you to easily share and collaborate on protected information within your trusted working environment.

The AD Rights Management Server itself is included as a separate server role in the Windows Server 2022 server license. However, you need the Windows Server 2022 AD RMS CAL's to fully utilize the functionality of AD RMS.

These CAL's are available per user (User), per device (Device), or as an External Connector license (per server) for external users. Depending on your needs and the number of users, there is a suitable licensing option available. Please refer to our advice for more information on the most cost-effective option for your situation.

The use of Microsoft Windows Server 2022 AD RMS CAL's is also possible in conjunction with Windows Server 2019 or older versions. Please refer to the downgrade rights table for a complete overview of the possibilities.

Please note that the Windows Server 2022 AD RMS CAL's are additional and required in addition to the Windows Server 2022 CAL's to use the functionality of Active Directory Rights Management Services in Windows Server 2022 Standard and Datacenter.

For a cost-effective and straightforward licensing option, User CAL's are most suitable when your employees work from multiple devices (PC, laptop, tablet, phone). Device CAL's, on the other hand, are more cost-effective and straightforward when multiple employees (e.g., part-time) work from the same device. For very large numbers of external users (non-employees), the External Connector license (per server) is the most cost-effective and straightforward choice.

Furthermore, it is important to note that usage rights (per user and on a subscription basis) are also included in Azure Information Protection Premium Plan 1, Enterprise Mobility + Security E3/E5, and Microsoft 365 E3/E5/F1/F3.

SWITCHING CLOUD PROVIDER

Switching to us as your new Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) is a seamless process. The transfer of subscriptions may vary depending on the agreement you have with your current provider. That's why we ensure that the transition to us is smooth, without any downtime! All you need to do is terminate your current agreement.

Subscription Transfer 
Our approach to subscription transfer is simple and seamless. On the day before your current agreement expires, we will activate the desired subscriptions in our Marketplace. This way, you won't experience any issues during the transition, and there will be no interruption in your cloud services. All you have to do is cancel your current contract to prevent automatic renewal.

No Downtime 
When you switch from your current CSP provider to us, you don't have to worry about downtime. NCE
New Commerce Experience (NCE) is the new contract model introduced by Microsoft.
